“The winter warriors”: at the Maison du livre de , Olivier Norek attracts the crowds on big days

the essential
On the eve of Christmas, the most famous Ruthenian bookstore, the Maison du Livre, Passage des Maçons, made a nice gift for its loyal customers. And not only that.

Since just yesterday she managed to attract the successful author with Aveyron ties, Olivier Norek. And the least we can say is that this “return to the country”, as some readers pointed out, was attractive: in the morning, as in the afternoon, a long queue took place on the first floor of the store. And if several successful works by the author, with roots in the Decazeville Basin, had taken their place on the shelf, such as “Code 93” or even “Surface”, Olivier Norek and his left hand were especially there to dedicate their latest work: “The Winter Warriors” released four months ago.

A dive into the Finnish-Soviet conflict of the Second World War, in the footsteps of a famous sniper, who never ceases to seduce critics and readers alike: more than 130,000 copies sold to date, a Jean Prize Giono, a preselection at Goncourt, a Renaudot prize for high school students… What happiness for the author who was, yesterday, as if at home, all smiles. And before returning to his family at the end of this dedication day on Ruthenian soil, Olivier Norek did not fail to delight his readers. like Paulette, 63, who once her book was signed, declared herself as she left the bookstore, “conquered. Her first historical novel is a success. I can only recommend it and salute the work of Mr. Norek , who is also from Aveyron.” Louis, 72, also said he was delighted “with this novel in which he learned a lot about this facet of History.” The Ruthenian did not fail to buy two additional copies. “I’m going to give them one to my son, the other to my daughter so that they can in turn pass them on to their children. It’s important.”

The Decazeville resident, who made the special trip, also hopes that this work will allow us to “better understand what is happening today in the world, I am thinking in particular of the war between Russia and Ukraine.”
