We have put together a selection of books about Morbihan or Morbihan authors slipped under the Christmas tree.
Portraits of Breton winegrowers
Languidic’s “La nouvelle bleue” editions publish the book The new Breton winegrowers. “An astonishing story is currently playing out in Brittany: that of the birth of a new vineyard. If the region has never been considered a wine-producing land strictly speaking, thanks to climate change, this could well change. The winegrowers who embark on the adventure firmly believe in it. And they do everything they can to get there,” says the publishing house.
From Côtes-d’Armor to Morbihanfrom Finistère to Ille-et-Vilaine, the book paints a portrait of the pioneers of the Breton wine odyssey.
A gourmet graphic novel
Loïc Senan signs a graphic novel which immerses the reader in the departure of Vannes for a road-trip gourmet across Brittany.
Straddling the line between documentary comics and famous cookbooks, Loïc Senan takes us to meet the star chefs who make Breton cuisine today. Conceived as an investigation, the work questions the way in which Brittany constructs its relationship with food and raises the question of Breton gastronomy. Does it really exist? And if so, how can we define it?
We discover producers, market gardeners, fishermen, historians and culinary critics. This story is sprinkled with touches of humor.
The testimony of Morbihannais
The book Before leaving, I wanted to tell you… Dialogue between generations by Anne Peregrini and Marc Teynier at Fayard questioned 11 people aged over 80 about what, in their eyes, mattered most in life.
In this “moral testament”, we find a nun of Valvesa Breton submarine commander (La Flore, exhibited at the base of Lorient) and Cousteau's Calypso, and many of them have a link with the peninsula of Quiberon.
Un roman fantasy
The Morbihannaise Mélina Le Page followed literary studies in Rennes. In her teaching profession as in her writings, she seeks to promote the beauty of the French language despite its complexity. A great fan of culture and fantasy literature, she publishes The Dark Elf.
Adventure novel imbued with legendary peoples and magical creatures, you will find elves, dwarves and men, as well as an original community resulting from the fertile imagination of the author: the Salam'andros, these men- fire from a foreign land and with dubious ambitions.

By exploring the historical origins of this linguistic hegemony, the book examines the consequences of this domination on global cultural and linguistic diversity. A writer from Lorient
The Lorientaise Aurore Guégan publishes End. “Loëline is an ordinary young woman, with her strengths and weaknesses. She has a career, friends, but also a dark secret that she has carried with her since childhood. Even if we think we have buried something deep within us, it inevitably ends up resurfacing. Hiding our pain, even unconsciously, weakens us and, one day, an unfortunate event, thrown our way by destiny, brings everything to the surface: the pain, the guilt. Speaking is liberating. Even though humanity sometimes sinks into the deepest darkness, we just need to remember how to turn the light back on so that the torment finally subsides. Life is made up of happiness and disappointments; you have to know how to tame it and accept it as it presents itself,” summarizes the publishing house.
A writer from Rohan
Bernard Gabé resides in Rohan. He publishes Hermes – Between gods and men.
This book is an introductory guide to the philosophy of existence as conceived by existential hermeneutics.
This philosophy is an understanding and interpretation that deals with the attempt to bring together mindful Zen spirituality and meditative thinking suggested by the German philosopher Martin Heidegger. Thinking about one’s “existence” and existing one’s “thinking” is this practice where the meaning of the whole nourishes the meaning of each part and vice versa. It is a demanding but rich philosophy, which could well help people who are willing and able to cope with the chaos that is present in today's world.
An author from Pont-Scorff
Jelloul Belmakadem, residing in Pont-Scorffpublishes Living in peace, the Art of thinking and loving. Here is the back cover of his essay:
We cannot separate thought from feeling, because the intellect and the heart are intimately linked. If we have right thoughts about love, this love becomes beneficial for us as well as for others, because the thought leads to the feeling and the latter pushes to the act, to the behavior. So the Art of thinking precedes the Art of loving, but they are inseparable in the lives of men, which is why we speak of the Art of thinking and loving. Our conception of love is learning to love the souls of humans of which they are unconscious, without waiting to be loved, thus we become free and we can do many things with this freedom. Unfortunately, humans don't care much for true freedom. Selfless love is true love, it is a fundamental principle of life. What matters is that this divine energy passes through them and they feel expanded, amazed, inspired and joyful.

How a structured, materialistic life can shift towards a social, human commitment. The characters journey between encounters, quest for origins, professional and personal questioning with a single objective: to give meaning to their lives!
