Sometimes it doesn't take much to write a book. A more or less comical situation from real life often serves as a starting point for writers. It is precisely this trajectory that followed Victoria Mellizoan author writing -under a pseudonym- from Lésigny (Seine-et-Marne).
“Part of my story”
Aged 51, the latter has just published her first novel in June 2024. A story inspired by his personal experiencebut not only. “This book is a part of my story, but it is also the experiences of several of my friends,” she laughs.
As the framework for her first book, the author chose to approach the difficulties of dating on social networks for people over forty. “When I started using social media more regularly after a second divorce, I didn't expect all this. So much so that it made me want to write a book! », she smiles.
The discovery of ghosting
Immersed in a world that she thought she knew, she ultimately discovers other practices, far from those she knew in her youth. “On these apps, I was confronted with overconsumption in catalogs, ghostinglies and above all the fact of allowing yourself to do more things behind a screen than in real life,” she summarizes. It is precisely these scenes and these setbacks that she decided to transcribe in her novel, called Remember this blonde. The book features Vanina, a woman over 40 years old. Throughout the book, the reader will be able to follow fourteen sketchesall coming from a part of truth. “She is thirsty to find love at all costs. She wants to keep her story alive even if it is not viable. She is aware that she is running into a wall, but she does it anyway,” summarizes Victoria Mellizo, who explains that this book was like “therapy” for her.
Cliques, dialogues and debriefs
These scenes of life combine humor, trash, female conversations and are a critique of social networks and the way people meet today. “ We click, we chat for hourswe see each other, we hope, and ultimately, we are disappointed. We talk with our friends about what he said, meant, did, didn't do, we dissect everything to reassure ourselves, at any time of the day or night,” says the author.
Faced with rave reviews from her first readers, the author is already working on her future novel. “It will be about the sequel,” she assures. People told me they wanted to know more about Vanina's love life “. But before you can take advantage of it, you will have to wait a few months. “It took me two years to write the first one. I think I will need the same to write the second one,” concludes Victoria. See you in bookstores in 2026!
