-de-Comminges. The first book fair with a local accent is revealed

the essential
The first book fair in -de-Comminges is taking shape in earnest. Step by step, this show is becoming formalized. With desire and a lot of enthusiasm, the organizers have already done an enormous amount of work.

Everything already seems to be going well for the launch of a first book fair in Frontignan-de-Comminges where the municipality and the cultural association of the village were delighted and quickly adhered to the proposal made by the Comminge author Christian Louis . “The idea is to bring out authors from our territory, little or not known. To provoke their meeting with the public”, begins to say the latter who, on December 4, had invited the press to present the project and its content, and reveal the authors who will participate in this show. Knowing that Christian Louis managed in advance to identify 53 local authors! Also, and after a brief overview of the event which will take place on July 27, 2025, Mayor Michel Planas, his deputy and president of the cultural association of Frontignan-de-Comminges Marie-Claire Méric and Christian Louis proceeded to opening the envelopes received at the town hall and numbered in the order of arrival. And this is how the list of 20 selected authors appeared. Knowing that 2 other authors are the subject of an additional list in the event of withdrawal of one of the officially selected participants. What was needed to be selectable? : have published at least one book regardless of its genre (novel, short story, theater, poetry, comic strip, etc.), either on behalf of the author or on behalf of a publisher. The other criterion is to reside in Haut Comminges, between Luchon and Cazères-sur-Garonne. “By planning ahead, I tried to apply what happens in other salons” underlines Christian Louis, who with Yves Planas and Marie-Claire Méric have already drawn up the rules of the salon. On the programming side, the day will be highlighted by two round tables in the morning: the first will be an invitation to better understand the journey, from the author to the publisher; the second will focus on Comminges and Barousse told in the in the presence of three authors from different literary genres. In the afternoon, Isaure Gratacos will hold a conference and will address the popular traditions of the valleys, their organization and the particular status of women. She will answer questions and sign her book Women in the Pyrenees. To close this first edition, which will perhaps call for others, Christian Louis will pay tribute to Dr Yves Heurté (1926-2006), writer, author of novels for young people, playwright and French poet. Suffice to say that if the organizers still have to do between now and the big day, most of it has been done at great speed.
