The storyteller Sophie Joinnant in dedication in Uzès

Do you know the story of little Malo, a young boy who lives the island of Groix in Brittany ? This character is the fruit of the imagination of a former Uzégeoise, Sophie Joining.

The one who lived in Collorgues for many years and created the Festival du conte en Uzègean event that lasted 20 years, returns to the lands they welcomed her on Saturday December 21, to dedicate her new book, “The Nightmare Before Christmas of Malo, Little Groisillon”.

This is the 4^e storybook written by Sophie Joignant. “Malo’s stories are a bit like a series, a saga”she delivers. Getting started with writing talesit's a new passion driven by the director of Groix éditions during a book fair in Brittany. “He knew that I was a storyteller, it was he who suggested that I take up this activity”explains the one who has also written portrait Books for adults.

Groix, an island on which Sophie Joignant has lived for five years. “Initially, I am from Lorient. And it was when my husband retired that we settled here”she confides.

Malo, fantastic and magical adventures

The first three storybooks “tell all kinds of magical and fantastic adventures that Malo can experience”. This year, Sophie Joignant wanted to write Christmas stories. “I find that it has been a bit lost, and children know little about them. That’s what pushed me to start writing this new book”she continues.

And to add: “I have a lot of fun doing this.”. Books illustrated by Frédéric Brogard. A collaboration that is going perfectly well, “he captures my expectations, concerning the colors, the atmospheres, which is important for the spirit of the book”she admits.

Tales which allow you to follow the adventures of Malo, to discover or rediscover through the eyes of a child and the tale, the island of Groix, not far from Lorient.
