The writing on his scarf is starting to fade but the memories remain. It is precisely so as not to forget them that Delphine Le Boisseliersecond runner-up in the Miss Équeurdreville 1997 election, begins writing a book on the years Miss Cherbourg. A bygone era since the last Miss was elected in 2012.
Regional model for 20 years
“Always elegant and feminine, my mother Georgette was a candidate in the 60s. She passed on her passion to me and pushed me to register for the Miss Équeurdreville competition. This is my best example“, says Delphine Le Boisselier nostalgically.
This scarf, as modest as it was, opened the doors to modeling for me.
After this experience, Delphine Le Boisselier, then a young adult, became regional model. For 20 years, she paraded in wedding fairs or for the local traders. A notable moment: the “Largest fashion show in the world”, organized in Paris by Galeries Lafayette in 2012, in which she participated.
Delphine Le Boisselier is aware of criticism brought to beauty contests: “Today, we are far from Miss be beautiful and shut up. The Miss was able to impose a new image of women to be this young woman forged with unfailing determination. She has managed to emancipate herself over the ages. »
Today, at 49 years old, heritage agent in museums for the City of Cherbourg delves into its archives to write its book. “It will restore the years of elegance of this popular election of Queen then of Miss Cherbourg, a highlight of the summer, but also the years of Geneviève de Fontenay” whom she met many times.
With this work, she hopes to give “a breath of oxygen, luxury and glitter” to its readers.
