Nearly a million copies sold in one week, the book on Taylor Swift's tour is a hit in the United States

256 pages and 500 images to prolong the magic. The Eras Tour Bookthe book about Taylor Swift's tour, published last Friday November 29, sold 814,000 copies in the first weekend in bookstores, which coincided with Black Friday.

According to Target, the store chain which markets the book exclusively, this figure is approaching one million this Friday. This is the fastest-selling book in 4 years. Only Barack Obama did better in 2020 with his memoirs, A promised land, sold 816,000 copies. The Eras Tour Book is also the best-selling music book in 20 years.

The Eras Tour Book therefore retraces Taylor Swidt's tour with images of the concerts, but also behind the scenes and the sets. It is also annotated with personal impressions of the singer.

Billionaire star and self-publisher

This publishing success echoes the immense success of the singer's world tour, a tour launched in March 2023 and which ends this Sunday. This show lasting more than 3 hours, revisiting Taylor Swift's 18-year career, is the most lucrative in history, with a billion in revenue.

The star also knew how to make the most of this tour, which was also available in the cinema, with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the recording of the show, which grossed 257 million dollars at the box office and is now today broadcast on Disney+.

This book, sold for $39.99, should therefore bring a new source of income to the star who became a billionaire thanks to this tour. Also note that the singer, who has already decided for several years to re-record her songs, the famous “Taylor' version”, to recover the rights, also wanted to keep control of this book, as she had also made for his film, self-produced.

The Eras Tour Book is in fact published by Taylor Swift Publications, self-publishing therefore. According to the first feedback from fans on the typos and errors which punctuate the work – some are even printed backwards – she should perhaps have called on an established editor.
