Man in danger, love of politics and God, commitment, hope in the new generation… Christine Boutin’s new book is out

After announcing her withdrawal from political life in 2017, Christine Boutin stuck to it. Far from wanting to get back in the saddle, she has not stopped politics, despite the many failings she denounces. At 80, having just become a great-grandmother, she retains all her energy and has just published a somewhat testamentary work entitled Open letter to anyone who wants to get involved in politics to serve and the French. She combines her political battles of yesterday, her priorities for saving man and France today, her unconditional love for humanity and her country, and the fervor of her faith in God.

By reading your book, we understand that although you do not want to return to politics. There is no doubt. But we also understand that politics still interests you. You talk about an open letter, but we rather have the feeling that it is a sort of will…

It’s a transmission. It seemed to me that, in the state of decay in which our country is, my experience of forty years in public and political life imposed on me a duty of transmission. The term “will” is sometimes perceived in a negative way, because it evokes the end. For me, this is not at all the end, on the contrary, it is a new beginning. I saw the alpha and the decline, and today everyone wakes up saying: “But what country do we live in?” I alerted on certain subjects in total desert, but I continued. Today, I think this book is a book of hope. France will rise again. It’s obvious to me.

In the first part of the book, you talk about the importance of engagement in politics and particularly your own. You retrace your struggles, particularly in Parliament. Where does this satisfaction come from when you have lost most of the battles you have fought…
