If Jamie Fraser has escaped a disastrous fate several times and he and Claire have been separated many times, the journey perhaps ends there, this time, for the hero ofOutlander. In episode 10 of season 7, uploaded on Saturday November 30 in France on Netflix, the day after the American broadcast, Claire is confronted with devastating news. In Philadelphia, John Gray tells him that Jamie perished at sea, in the sinking of the boat which was to bring him from Scotland to America. If she refuses to believe it at first, Claire must face the facts. And just after this terrible news, she is forced to marry John Gray to avoid the gallows, suspected of espionage by the British authorities! “For Claire, the idea of losing Jamie is devastating, Caitriona Balfe told Télé-Loisirs. But I think she also felt betrayed by her own heart or body, she didn't think she would feel that, she thought she would feel it if Jamie was dead. It was hard to film those scenes, when you go to work on Monday morning and you have to tear your heart out… It's not always easy, but they're also big challenges.” But is Jamie really dead? The answer lies in the books of Diana Gabaldon, including Outlander is suitable. Beware of spoilers, if you haven't read them and prefer to wait for the next episodes of season 7 to air.
Outlander season 7, part 2: Did Jamie really die at sea?
The supposed shipwreck of Jamie Fraser is found in the eighth volume of Diana Gabaldon's saga, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood (In the ink of my heart, in French). Jamie and his sister Jenny, who changed actresses in the series, much to the dismay of fans, are supposed to have boarded a ship that sank, but their bodies are never found. While Claire and John are convinced that he perished at sea and that they married to save the doctor from hanging, Jamie suddenly arrives in Philadelphia. They had missed the departure of the boat and so took another one. Once again in Outlander, Jamie escaped certain death!

But what about next? In the ninth volume, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone (Farewell to the beesin French), Brianna and Roger return to the past again and find the young woman's parents. Brianna brings back with her a book written by her father Frank, about the story of Jamie, who tells that he will die during the Battle of King's Mountain. But, when Jamie is injured during the confrontation, Claire manages, once again, to save him. Will Jamie die in Outlander and, if so, how? This is one of the big questions fans ofOutlander, while the last volume of the saga has still not been released. The final season 8 of the series had to be written before the publication of Diana Gabaldon's final book, so the writers of the series had to imagine their own conclusion to the story of Claire and Jamie. If the actors now know how it ends Outlandersince they finished filming the season 8 finale, Sam Heughan was previously the only one to know the end of the story.
