Every year in the small Gard town of Cendras, the Lire Délivre festival is eagerly awaited. If the stated objective is to promote reading, the programming revolves each year around a different societal subject. This 14e edition makes room for a theme at the heart of contemporary discussions: digital technology and artificial intelligence.
« Helping people to emancipate themselves »
The festivities will start Friday evening 29 with the play Not compliant from the company Les Inattendus, asking about the processing of personal data. Saturday 30, in addition to the usual book flea market, the activities will continue. On the program: a conference to help parents better manage their children's screen consumption, readings of extracts from novels and the presentation of a new application based on AI by two local developers. Alesian author and teacher Gilles Roumieux will also share his thoughts on the impact of screens on critical thinking. At the end of the day, a debate on digital in journalism will bring together local media professionals.
The festival also offers a dinner upon reservation. The evening will end with an intimate concert by Jember MK, who will revisit folk and pop classics with his guitar. For Mayor Sylvain André, the festival is not just about promoting reading: “ It’s an ideal way to help people emancipate themselves.. »
