The Nuku Hiva public came in large numbers to buy Books of all ages.
The 5th edition of the Marquesas book fair opened its doors yesterday Tuesday morning in Taiohae (Nuku Hiva), for 3 days.
The event organized by the Paevii cultural association of Nuku Hiva and the association of publishers of Tahiti and the islands (AETI) welcomes this year around ten writers including several representatives of Fenua publishing houses.
The objective of the fair is to allow the population of the island to discover new works, to meet and discuss with the authors and then to purchase books without the cost of freight. For Franck Loubet, organizer of the book fair and president of AS PAEVII, “this year is exceptional in the number of authors, we have twelve, mainly from Polynesia”.
Every morning, students from schools in the Marquesan capital are invited to participate in interactive meetings with writers around their works. “And they share their experiences with students who are extremely captivated.”
