Editions Le Lotus and L'Éléphant have just published “Yoga for Young and Old” by sophrologist and yoga teacher Sabrina Alloy, a book to relax with the family.
WELL-BEING YOGA – This yoga book is aimed at parents, school or yoga teachers, it offers them eight simple and fun yoga sessions to practice with children. There is no age to start yoga: for the youngest (18 months to 3 years), the author offers short sessions through play; from 3 to 6 years old, the sessions will be longer, up to 1 hour for children aged 8 to 11 years old. Sabrina Alloy offers 8 session models: energizing for the morning, relaxing with animal yoga, a session to gain self-confidence, a session at school to strengthen attention and concentration, another for the child can put his emotions into words. The family session creates bond between adults and children and the sleep session prepares the child for a good night's sleep with restorative sleep. Finally, the sun salutation is a dynamic sequence to thank the sun, the earth, the flowers, the mountains and to be in good shape all day long.
The exercises are illustrated by drawings of positions and the representation of the weather and emotions allows the child to associate his mood with the sun, the cloud, the storm, the tornado or the moon. This identification allows him to tame his emotions. Younger children will love animal yoga: making faces like the monkey, standing on one leg like the pink flamingo, acting like a snake…
Thanks to this practical and illustrated guide, parents and children can learn about yoga together and discover all the benefits of this practice for the body and mind. Mathilde Battini's drawings depict the asanas practiced by the children for immediate identification by them.
