It was a great success for the Pont-Saint-Esprit and Rhone Gard book festival. It brought together authors and readers around activities for young and old in the Cazerne village hall which was transformed into a real media library throughout the week from Saturday November 16 to Friday November 22. After a year of work, the association creating the book festival has delivered a particularly rich and eclectic program for 2024. The event gives pride of place to authors, from children's Books to thrillers and on the bill we find numerous works of all literary genres, meetings, events, conferences, writing workshops for young and old – including the great dictation –, theater, exhibitions, trips with The Amazon, poetic and musical reading, video projection and of course numerous signing sessions.
Renowned authors
“Each year, we choose a different theme. This time, it’s the wild,” explains Pascale Dondey, the dynamic treasurer of the festival who underlines, “the work of the entire team that accompanies it” and rejoices in “this very beautiful edition. We welcome renowned artists throughout the week. Signing sessions and interviews allow you to better understand each person’s journey and style. The public was there, great encounters. And every year interventions are carried out in schools. This time, there are two authors and two illustrators who animated several schools in the surrounding area. The teachers and students were delighted to discover their activities. And several workshops for children were on the menu for these days.” explains Pascale Dondey.
This book festival is a great opportunity to discover new literary talents and meet established authors. The closing day of the festival ended with the director, screenwriter and actor Lucas Belvaux and the presentation of his first novel The Tormented, a film adaptation which will be released in 2025.
