The Var Book Festival 2024 began at Place d'Armes in Toulon, under the theme of freedom. This edition pays tribute to Marcel Pagnol, an emblematic figure of literature and Provence.
The inauguration brought together officials, including Jean-Louis Masson, president of the Departmental Council, and the mayor of Toulon Josée Massi.
After a tour of the stands and meetings with the public, the Readers' Prizes were awarded in three categories:
General Literature : A world to remake by Claire Deya (Éditions de l'Observatoire)
Youth Albums : The silence of Rouge by Mathieu Pierloot and Giulia Vetri (Éditions Versant Sud)
Comic : The Quest of Frédéric Maupome and Wauter Mannaert (Editions Le Lombard)
Info83 interviewed Bernard Minierhonorary president, who underlined the importance of reading as a tool for emancipation, and Claire Deyalaureate in General Literature.
