Homage to his literary masters such as Lovecraft, Poe and Borgès, Cats and 14 cruel evil mystery storieswhich its irresistible vintage cover immediately transforms into an object of our (black) desire, draws on different veins (police, fantasy, SF), flirts with gore and terror, plays with morality, appears grating, dark and sensitive. Psychopathic children, “dark tourism” in a disaster zone, hallucinatory forensics, jealous lovers, animal tales: there’s everything, and it’s all crazy.

The participants of our book club (or reading club – we hear the Anglophobes protesting here) were able to meet the writer and ask him their questions, after having previously received a copy of the text.

Sources of inspiration, relationship to reality and morality, writing methods and techniques, anecdotes, tips, future projects: the writer's entire universe unfolded in the space of one evening.

Then came the time for signings over drinks, and everyone went home. But take it for granted: the experience wowed us, and it will be repeated…

To participate in the next book club organized in our premises, watch for the dedicated inserts in the newspaper, and follow The Point on social networks: all information will be disseminated there.

“Cats and 14 cruel diabolical mystery stories”, by Bernard Minier (Pocket, 336 p., €10) and “Les Effacées”, collector’s edition (XO, 412 p., €22.90)
