Monaco publishes a digital book against violence against women

From shadow to light”, this is, in a few words, the will of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights at the dawn of its annual campaign which echoes the international day for the elimination of violence against women. towards women this Monday, November 25. After digital technology last year, the theme of light and shadow is intended to be a reason for hope for victims who wish to free themselves from the horrors of the violence they have suffered. “We chose this theme of the path towards freedom found in the grip of violence to talk about resilience without denying the difficulties encounteredexplains Céline Cottalorda, interministerial delegate for the promotion and protection of women’s rights. It’s not easy to get out of this violence but we wanted to show that a way out is possible and how we can rebuild ourselves. How to rediscover the light of a life without violence.”

A two-way message, this theme of shadow and light also evokes the invisible violence, singled out during this 2024 campaign. Which are grouped under three themes for the occasion: economic and administrative violence – “ a victim subordinate to his companion who holds all the economic resources”specifies Céline Cottalorda; in the world of sport where “violence can be committed by a coach or a person from the medical field with influence over the victim”; and finally on a person with a disability, whether visible or not, Or “Women are more likely to be victims of violence and their voice is even more devalued than others.”

Testimonies from specialists to support victims

This is the whole purpose of this digital book, available in particular on the Monegasque committee website. Give the floor to Monegasque professionals in contact with victims to give them a voice. Thus, the government communications director Geneviève Berti collected the testimony of nine people selected by the committee in various fields. “The idea was to be able to start a conversation with each of these people to talk about their experiencereports Geneviève Berti. For example: why do they do this, what drives them? Personally, I learned a lot about this subject.” “We wanted to tell stories and put people at the heart of our campaigncontinues Céline Cottalorda. We wanted to give a voice to those who are in the field on a daily basis to highlight their work and show that there is a very strong network between professionals in the Principality.”

In parallel with this digital book, several conferences(1) are organized from November 22 to 29, most of which are free and accessible to all.
