Mysteries, caramels and salted butter is the new novel published by Aline Duret. A high school literature teacher near Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), she has already written five thrillers including the previous one, The echo of silencetakes place in Guérande intramural.
Aline Duret will be present in Guérande, at the Brittany Book Festival on Saturday November 16, 2024 at the Coop-breizh stand and will dedicate her book, released as a preview for the festival.
An intramural investigation
It is in the same places that is located Mystery, caramels and salted buttera children's novel “which can be read from 8 years old and by the whole family”, assures its author.
Albert, the narrator, is on vacation while leading a criminal investigation with twists and turns, following the discovery of part of a human body.
Intramural in Guérande, the characters circulate in these easily recognizable places, between a guest house and the bookstore opposite, near a creperie behind the halls or another, characterized by the statue of a dog on his seat.
L’Echo of the Peninsulawithout being a main character in this children's novel, is nevertheless present, with an amusing article title: Case of the severed foot, the investigation stalls. Any resemblance to real characters or situations would be pure coincidence and chance, as it should be for any novel.
Pay attention to reading for the visually impaired
Aline Duret is also visually impaired. She is particularly attentive to ensuring that her books, but also others, are published in large print to facilitate access to reading for the visually impaired, as well as for people who tire quickly while reading or others who are dyslexic. , for whom the large format ensures reading comfort.
She will show on the Guérande stand “materials, concrete solutions to move forward, which allow visually impaired children or adults to have access to books and the written word”.
Concern for language drives Aline Duret who uses “precise vocabulary, even if it means having to put footnotes to explain, but without making any concessions so that teenagers enrich their vocabulary,” she hopes. “Dejection, pragmatic, modus operandi, incredulous, holding hands, Olympian calm, stoic, slender, leaden screed, conspiratorial or even doorframe”, are among the words explained.
Mysteries, caramels and salted butter is the first in a series of investigations, “the next one will take place at Mont Saint-Michel, a way of exploring these historic Breton places that I love”.
