The book fair is back

Scheduled for Saturday November 16 and Sunday November 17 at the Espace de la Tour in Mably, the book fair offers many new releases in 2024, including recent novels, very beautiful art and even a series on well-being .

“The books are offered by individuals and deposited throughout the year in the media libraries of and Mably,” indicates Jean-Luc Mosnier, section secretary of the Roanne group.

Funds raised can change lives

“We only offer for sale works in good condition, at very low prices, with an exception for collector's books sought after by readers,” he specifies.

This year, women's rights will be highlighted with an information campaign and, for the most committed visitors, the signing of petitions. “The funds raised can change lives, change laws and allow us to win victories for freedom, for dignity and for justice,” underlines André Vesse who provides secretarial functions.

Main source of income for the local Amnesty International association

The book fair represents the main source of income for the Roanne group of Amnesty International which also organizes, each year, a sale of postcards and calendars. If the majority of funds are sent to the French Section of Amnesty in to support actions around the world, part of the donations helps finance events organized throughout the year in Roannais: cinema screenings, interventions in schools to present Amnesty campaigns, signatures of petitions… “This year, donations allowed us in particular to finance the screening of a film on Burkinabé children working in gold mines and the intervention of a troop theater for a show on the theme of refugees, scheduled for December 12 for students from Mably elementary schools,” recalls Annette Millet, coordinator of the 2024 Book Fair.
