Among five works in competition, the Dame Tartine prize will be awarded to L’Odyssée on Friday November 15. It rewards a children’s author, elected by the children of Périgueux schools.

The Gourmet Book Festival is not just for adults. Quite the contrary. In addition to “Glouton”, a space dedicated to children throughout the festivities, the little Périgord students got their hands dirty from the start of the September school year. “All the students in the elementary schools of Périgueux received a selection of works, which they read and worked on with their teacher, but also as part of the after-school reception,” explains Rodolphe Delcros, culture assistant for the City of Périgueux.

Five works in competition

This year, five works (see box opposite) were in competition, two more than last year’s prize won by Quand Margot Pâtisse with “Les Recipes du Père Noël” (Editions Gründ). “The principle is to vote for the book which will receive the Dame Tartine prize, which we will award for the third year”, explains the elected official, convinced that “it is a real plus for the children” who , for some, met authors who came to lead workshops.

This is the case of Fanny Gauvin who intervened in class to offer a workshop on the history of pastry, and in particular the origin of certain products used: chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon. “Where it comes from, how it got to us” All this with an ethical and ecological approach, which she shared with the children, in addition to a creative cake workshop and a sensory workshop. » Delphine Lebrun, culinary stylist, also came to help the children make recipes, but also “a complete staging of a recipe”. “This is the strength of Dame Tartine: to initiate, to meet, to participate. It’s a real success for both the children and the authors,” rejoices Rodolphe Delcros.

The prize will be awarded Friday, November 15, at 7:30 p.m., on the main stage of L’Odyssée.

The Gourmet Book Festival takes place Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 November, on the Badinter esplanade, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information and articles to discover in our Gazette du gourmand, to be found at the festival, in kiosks and in mailboxes for subscribers.
