“Giving to read”, a gesture of solidarity so that reading is accessible to all children in Saint-Pol-de-Léon

Dominique Le Borgne, member of Secours populaire, has found for the eighth consecutive year the support of the Livres in Room bookstore for the “Donate to read” operation organized by the French Bookstore Union: “With the Secours populaire français and the independent bookstores, let’s give a book to a child who doesn’t have one! “.

Encourage reading

On the same principle as that of a hanging café, this solidarity operation allows bookstore customers to offer to children and adolescents supported all year round by Secours populaire français. And it is the journalist Emilie Tran Nguyen who becomes godmother of this 9th edition. The principle is simple: for one month, customers of participating bookstores are invited to choose and add a children’s book to their purchases then return it to their bookseller. This book is then offered by Secours populaire volunteers to a child or adolescent who has none or too little.

Give to read thus encourages the practice of reading among a young audience who are far from it. In the Pays de Morlaix two other Morlaix bookstores are participating in the operation, these are the Dialogues and Les Déferlantes bookstores. Children’s books and albums will be offered on December 24 at the same time as the distribution of toys and 450 packages allowing a festive meal to be prepared for all beneficiaries in the area.

Practical
