Éric Lacroix publishes six truly improbable stories

The native Raymondois Éric Lacroix has just published a book with a humorous flavor under the title Truly implausible stories. It is a collection of fiction in pocket format of just over 200 pages, inspired by places in Port Neuf whose names are funnyly modified.

Professor of mathematics at CEGEP Limoilou, Éric Lacroix is already the author of books on mathematics. But Truly implausible stories is his first fictional work.

Each of the stories tells the improbable story of an equally improbable character, we can read in the promotional text from the publisher Éditions Huot.

Places and characters

The names of the places and characters are just as improbable as the stories. The names of the localities become Saint-Romain-de-Porcbeuf, Château-Rucher, Saint-Talban and Côte Rieuse, to name just a few.

He defines his book as a collection of humorous stories often referring to his native Saint-Raymond.

“These are funny stories where I praise things,” he takes care to specify. The stories take place in 1976, as well as in the 1990s.

Universe borrowed from reality

Éric Lacroix began writing his first novel in 1988. “But a novel is difficult to write,” he comments. In 1992, I thought about writing stories. »

This book bringing together six stories is set in a universe borrowed from reality.

The work illustrated by his daughter Rosalie is aimed at a readership aged 12 and over, he believes. “Young people and adults are having fun. Young people may have to search the Internet to understand things. »

Where to buy it

The book can be obtained in particular at the Uniprix pharmacy in Saint-Raymond, in certain bookstores in Quebec in the leslibraires.ca network (Pantoute, Laliberté, Morency) or directly from the publisher on the website leseditionshuot.com.
