The Seinoscope outing of the weekend: the Children’s Book Festival

From Friday November 8 to Sunday November 10 in , a new edition of this annual festival celebrating children's literature is taking place. Numerous events punctuate these three days marked by the 2024 theme: “Friends for life! “.

The Rouen Children's Book Festival is the event awaited every fall by lovers of children's , impatient to meet authors and illustrators. And it is the Lis-moi les mots association which has prepared for months with its partners a program rich in exchanges, surprises and moments of sharing. A great diversity characterizes the activities open to all ages: meetings, readings aloud, workshops, signings, shows, exhibitions. It is recommended to come early each day in order to fully appreciate the event, placed this year under the sign of friendship and whose guest of honor is Marie-Aude Murail. Born in in 1954, this multiple award-winning author has published more than a hundred books, translated into twenty-five languages. His works are highlighted throughout the festival, notably through readings, including one drawn and another performed by an actress.

There are dozens of workshops. There are drawing sessions, reading, collages and even origami making or listening to songs played live. A “teen and manga focus” is offered, as is a space dedicated to accessibility, books and reading. The stands present books and objects suitable for all children, those with disabilities or dyslexic disorders for example. The Department supports and participates in the festival via its Departmental Media Library which invites the public to get lost in a “forest of books”. As for the publishing houses present, they are numerous and have with them a whole range of thematic selections: teen novels, comics, Christmas, toddlers and of course, “friendship”.

All practical information is available on the Seinoscope page dedicated to the Rouen Children's Book Festival.
