Volunteers from the Pépinière d’initiatives nationaux de Ploemeur (Pic) association are mobilizing, for the fourth consecutive year, for disadvantaged children. They participate, with the complicity of the Sillage bookstore, in the national Green Santa operation of Secours populaire. The objective is to collect new children’s Books, which will be placed under the Christmas trees of children and young people from families in difficulty. Members of the Pic association and the bookstores welcomed, on Tuesday November 5, Stella Jarnot and Martine Pierre, the Secours populaire volunteers responsible for this operation.
Until December 12
The operation has already started and will continue until December 12. The idea of this solidarity action is that Ploemeurois, who frequent or name the bookstore, choose a book and place it in the box provided. This operation is simple: offer new books to families living below the poverty line, so that they can place them, thanks to the little hands of Santa Claus, at the foot of the family tree. On behalf of the Pic collective, Emmanuelle Trocadéro recalled: “This solidarity action allows both to support independent bookstores, like Sillage, and to offer a new quality book for children’s Christmas.” Pic’s booksellers and volunteers insist on the importance of giving children a taste for reading. To help them, all you have to do is open the door to the bookstore and choose a book to offer, which the children will discover on Christmas Day.
