Brive Book Fair 2024: the audio book is immersive

The audio book has its place at the Brive Book Fair. As evidenced by its presence for the second consecutive year on the occasion of the 42nd edition. A reinforced presence with an exclusively dedicated stand, space of the 3 Provinces.

Test micro

This year, the listening space is larger, but above all it is open to everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. We will be able to test the audio book. “A children's playlist, an adult and a 3rd on podcasts. But not just any podcast, podcasters, podcasters, who have , who have published physical books from their podcasts” explains Philippe Chapot, organizer of this meeting and founder of the Podcast & RadioHouse in Brive.

To understand

You will also be invited to try your hand at the microphone, with book readings, marshmallow challenge, or even give your opinion on an audio book. But also attend a recording live. “This year, it’s the first podcast recorded at the Brive Book Fair” specifies Philippe Chapot. Madame Meuf will try her hand at the exercise. She will debate with two authors. “People will be able to be there and listen to how she does her podcast. It's doing 2 episodes and they will be episodes of her official podcast which has a good reputation and a good community.”

20,000 audio books in

In short, the audio book is asserting itself, even if in France, there is still a way to go, believes Philippe Chapot, organizer of this meeting and founder of the Podcast & RadioHouse in Brive: “20,000 audio books are available in France, which is not huge. For example, there are almost 100,000 audio books that exist in Germany. So it's true, it's a market that is developing to develop. But audiobooks have a manufacturing cost and especially a return on investment which is a little complicated because the platforms today take a large percentage. The two competitors today are Audible and Spotify. has just arrived. Audible offers 1 new book per month with a subscription which is 9.90 euros per month. For Spotify, it is included in the subscription. 20,000 existing.”
