School harassment: the book written by two teachers from has affected thousands of students

The national day against school bullying takes place Thursday, November 7. A theme dear to Aurélie Montassier and Christophe Jan, school teachers in Chevilly, who wrote a book on this subject. After the release of not even funnyat the beginning of 2022, Aurélie Montassier estimates that thousands of French students have been made aware.

Aurélie Montassier and Christophe Jan, school teachers in Chevilly, co-wrote, during confinement, a work entitled Not even funny. It deals with school bullying, based on the points of view of the bullied, the bully and the witness.

There is also an Internet link which allows you to download a free operating booklet for teachers. It was released in early 2022 and has been reprinted six times.

Not even funny, the book on school bullying written by two teachers from Chevilly schools

On the occasion of the National Day Against School Bullying, Thursday, November 7, the two authors let it be known that they have new copies in stock for those interested. “We can say that 3,000 teachers have the novel, knowing that they are aimed at classes of 20 students. There are also middle school teachers who have sixth graders, school psychologists and parents who have bought it,” lists Aurélie Montassier.

“We did our promotion on social networks (Facebook account), through word of mouth and our travels. We also sent 1,500 emails to the inspectors of each circo. For the moment, we have not had any returns.”

“Above all, we must dare to speak”

She considers that their book has “spread” in mainland as well as in , New Caledonia, Belgium and Quebec. She estimates that thousands of students have been made aware. “I have a student who told me: Teacher, the children in the book are not perfect, they are like us,” points out Aurélie Montassier.

Beyond the book, the school teacher talks about the ten hours of teaching provided as part of the pHARe program, a global plan for the prevention and treatment of harassment situations. And the Shared Concern Method (MPP) which is used in schools and colleges:

“There is a team that listens to the victim, but also to the alleged bully (we no longer say harasser). We also hear the witnesses. We are not in the sanction, the punitive, but in benevolence. Indeed, we ask the alleged bully to find solutions, to be an actor, to repair things.

Aurélie Montassier is in phase with this approach, believing that there is an awareness: “Except that there are a multitude of cases to be treated. In addition to putting in place, we must above all dare to speak .” And it's not always easy.
