Alexe Paradis launches his first detective novel

A young 13-year-old girl from Labelle is quite happy to present her first novel in the detective vein, At the heart of an investigation. This is undoubtedly his first interview with a media.

Alexe is at school when she joins L’info about dinner time. She is embarrassed, we can guess, the voice does not deceive. By way of introduction, she emphasizes that she has been writing for almost two and a half years and that her book is in the detective genre and is titled “At the heart d‘an investigationsummer”. The story takes place in the immediate area.

The little book, printed in 55 copies, found takers at the launch. However, that ends there for the history of the book as an object, the 1st edition, she confided to the newspaper. A 2nd edition will be released “for the holiday season”.

Quick questions with the author

Alexe, did you like the experience of writing your book? Do you dream of being a writer?
“I liked it and, yes, I would like to be a writer.”

How do you summarize the story of your book?
“They are two teenagers and one of them learns that his father is dead. He goes to meet the young girl and they fall… in love. He will ask her if she wants to help him find who killed his father.”

Tell me about the book launch.
“There was a buffet… then David Robert and Janick [Nantel] made speeches. They were the ones who wrote the preface to my book, and I then gave a short speech. Afterwards, I signed my books.”

It was an awkward moment to say the least, right?

And when the 2nd edition will be available, where will we find it?
“It’s still too early to say. My dad is working on that.”

Now tell me who are your favorite authors, those who influenced you?
” Several. But Anne Robillard [Les Chevaliers d’Émeraude – NDLR] Above all “.

Tell me, do you wish write another book?
“Yes, it has already started.”

Oh! And it will be in the police vein like At the heart of an investigation?
“Um, less.”

A passionate young girl

Janick Nantel is the director of the Labelle Youth Center. She knows Alexe well and, according to the author, worked to obtain a grant to print the book.
