In Carhaix, four award-winning authors at the Book Festival

Four prizes were awarded during the Book Festival, which ended this Sunday, October 27, in Carhaix. Dimitri Rouchon-Borie was awarded the novel prize of the City of Carhaix for “The Dog of the Stars”. A cruel and luminous gypsy epic, published by Editions du Tripode. “The jury's choice naturally fell on this book which everyone liked,” explained Hoël Maleuvre, member of the jury. « Speech is not my strong point, I would just say that it is very touching to be distinguished here, in Brittany. I thank the jury for its confidence,” said the author, who is a journalist at Télégramme.

The Breton short story prize from the town of Carhaix was awarded to Patrice Marquand for “E Kambr ar skrivagner” (“In the writer’s room”, Editor’s note), a short story published in the Al Liamm review.

The Xavier de Langlais prize, which rewards each year a work of prose or a collection of unpublished poems in the Breton language, was awarded to Loeiza an Duigou for “Kali Torrdent”, or the story of a pirate who tries to escape to a terrible captain. The young author, based in South Finistère, did not hide her emotion when receiving her award from the hands of Gaëtan de Langlais, the son of Xavier de Langlais: “It’s incredible! It’s a huge mix of emotions to receive this prestigious award.”

Finally, the “History of Brittany” prize, organized jointly by three associations (the Carhaix Book Festival, the Musée de Bretagne and Bretagne Culture Diversité), was awarded to Fanny Bugnon for “The forbidden election. Itinerary of Joséphine Pencalet, Breton worker (1886-1972)”, published by Éditions du Seuil. “A very important distinction because the history of Brittany has always been intertwined with the history of women,” underlined the author.
