A Book Fair to convey a taste for reading

The doors of the Maison de la culture populaire La Vigie in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli will open to welcome authors and reading lovers as part of the 31st Côte-du-Sud Book Fair, on 2 and November 3.

Carolyn Chouinard, author from Sainte-Perpétue, who began her career by writing a fantasy series for Éditions de Mortagne, accepted the honorary presidency. His bibliography includes more than 60 titles published by various publishers over around fifteen years. In addition, in collaboration with her daughter Lora Boisvert, she created a mobile application that offers interactive and immersive complements to the paper book. Passionate about reading, she makes it her mission to transmit the taste for reading.

Also, nearly twenty authors and publishers will participate in various launches or workshops over the two days. Added to this will be publishers and the Livres en tête bookstore, in addition to the Bouquinerie d’Haberville, which will offer the public a wide range of used books, the sale of which constitutes the main means of financing the show.

Marie-Claude Ouellet will offer an interactive family tale, Bérengère, the little cow from Pilier-de-pierre! which will allow you to learn about our maritime history. After the official opening of the Salon, there will be the unveiling of the recipient of the 17th Philippe-Aubert-de-Gaspé Literary Prize 2024, endowed with a $1,000 scholarship.

The traditional dictation of the Salon, this activity which allows two age groups to measure their knowledge of the French language, will be held on Saturday from 2 p.m.

Sylvie Tremblay will come and present the Stories from my father. It relates the adventurous life of her father Philippe, whose profession was bush surveying. Sunday morning, Ms. Chouinard will lead a reading discovery workshop. Then around 1:30 p.m. the book launch will take place The people of my parishby Gaston Deschênes.

The event will be presented free of charge and draws for books or vouchers will be held every hour during the Show. For additional information, visit www.salondulivrecotedusud.qc.ca or go to the Facebook page of the Salon du livre de la Côte-du-Sud.
