A new festival, artist workshops, playback, rap and books, here is your weekend in and the surrounding area

Luidji sets up at the Zénith, a theater festival highlights young companies, artists’ workshops open throughout Occitania, a one-man show plays on the discourse in the media, and authors are invited to la Grande-Motte: here are five events to experience from Friday October 18 to Sunday October 20 in .

Festival (A). COME

The Bleu Nuit company with the project “Argument against the existence of intelligent life” by Santiago Sanguinetti.

A new festival appears in the Montpellier theater landscape: (A) Venir. Supported by the Carêvelle company, with the help of the Compagnie Maritime school and the Plein Vent collective, it aims to highlight young creation. “We had difficulty being visible. It’s always complicated for a young company,” points out Hugo, co-organizer of the event. The event allows young companies to rub shoulders with the stage and the public. If it is about seeing theater, it is also “an invitation to exchanges, to sharing, and to the joy of being together”. Six young companies of less than three years of existence and three others, who have more experience, will put together “models”, pieces of creations in progress, allowing us to understand their world and the talent of the actors. What do these have in common? They followed training in the metropolis: Maritime Company, creative master’s degree from Paul Valéry University, Ensad, the Conservatory and even Cours Florent.
Friday is intended for professionals, but Saturday (2 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.), the days are open to the public, curious about young creation.

From Friday October 18 to Sunday October 20, various times. Compagnie Maritime, 24 avenue de la du Capitaine, Montpellier. FREE ENTRANCE. @

luidji

Luidji is popular with young people. The 18-20 year old jury of the Josephine Artists Prize, aiming to highlight the quality of French musical production of all trends, distinguished the album Saison 00 from the Ile-de- rapper. Having cut his teeth on his Skyblog in the 2000s, he was propelled to the forefront with his album Sadness Business. The artist stands out from the world of rap, with a clear penchant for gentleness and introspection, paying little attention to trends. Dreadlocks on his head, the young man of Haitian origin traces his path with rap that navigates between soul, R&B and tribal music, accompanied by a soft voice and refined lyrics.

Saturday October 19 at 8 p.m. Zénith Sud, 2 733 avenue Albert Einstein, Montpellier. Price: €40 to €60.

Artists’ Workshops Days

No Luck’s workshop at LineUp.

For seven years now, the Occitanie region has organized the Artists’ Workshops Days on its territory. Throughout the weekend, in the region’s thirteen departments, 688 artists responded by opening the doors to their places of creation. Painters, visual artists, sculptors, designers, videographers, photographers or even graffiti artists: diversity is obviously there. It’s about discovering not only professions and techniques, but also varied worlds. In Hérault alone, 134 workshops will be open and welcoming, including 26 in Montpellier. Some of these workshops are well stocked with many places for artists such as those from Tropisme, LineUp or even Les Cristalliers.

Saturday October 19 and Sunday October 20. Occitanie region. Times depending on location. All artists associated with this weekend are listed on laregion.fr

PLAYBACK FM

He appeared at Arlette your circus last spring and won over the public. Valentin Dilas replays his ultra-sound stand-up PlayBack FMsubtitled “or how the media taught me to speak”. In this one-man show, he will not say a word and will always let others speak, people known or not, who have passed through the filter of the media for 60 years like Serge Gainsbourg, Sophie Marceau or even David Pujadas. Extracts from news, interviews, incidents that took place live, thanks to elegant editing work, the actor illustrates what a good speaker is and what a failed speech is, like the cruelty of direct.

Friday October 18 at 8 p.m. Jérôme Savary Theater, 235 boulevard des Moures, Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone. Full price: €11.

La Grande Motte indulges
