“The Source”, a book to evacuate trauma

ANigerian for a good twenty years, Marina Mothes has gone through a more than difficult period. “I was in a coma for thirty-five days and then stayed in a hospital for four months,” says this sixty-year-old who worked as a landscaper. She wanted to share this adventure by writing a book: “La source”, published by Éditions Maïa (retail price: 19 euros).

“Initially, I started writing to evacuate my coma memories. Then, during my convalescence, I felt the need to take stock of my experiences and the lessons learned from my experience,” says the Angérien. This book resembles a diary with “coma flashes, memories that come back in fragments, morale that oscillates with progress and failures”. This book is also an ode to art therapy, a tribute to those close to him and in particular to his sister Carole. “I also wanted to give some advice to those who are going through difficult ordeals,” continues the woman who has also written children’s books.

Literature lover

As a result of her health problems, Marina Mothes can no longer work. Great lover of literature (works by Alexandre Dumas, Jules Verne but also Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt). The Angère also paints watercolors, celebrating the beauties of local nature. “If this book can help even a few people, accompanying people, caregivers, to understand what the patient or sick person goes through during hospitalization, that the fight is difficult but not impossible, then I will have done my part of the hummingbird”, summarizes Marina Mothes who will meet her readers in the coming weeks.

It will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at 15 Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville in Saint-Jean-d’Angély, then Friday November 22 at the Girandières senior residence in and Saturday December 7 at the tea room The Cloud of Saint-Jean-d’Angély teas.
