“Memories of a Burning Body”

It is one of those which is more discreet but which is just as worth the detour. Next November 20 will be released in theaters “Memories of a Burning Body” by Antonella Sudasassi Furniss. “It’s a Spanish documentary that we’re premiering on October 13, during the Iberian film festival organized at the Variétés.”

There we discover a woman of a certain age: “she returns to her body, her sexuality and her life as a woman through a film which is very delicate, full of poetry and with a current discourse”.

After living for years under the authority of her father, her brother or even her husband, Ana frees herself and blossoms. By diving into her memories, she also transports us to the different eras of her country, Spain.

“Their children after them”

The book has already attracted a lot of attention, notably winning the Goncourt Prize in 2018. This time, it’s time for the film Their children after them. This adaptation of Nicolas Mathieu’s novel takes us back to August 1992, in the East, in Épinal. We follow Anthony’s story over several summers. Between encounters and social divisions, this young person tries to find his way in an environment where difficulties and boredom are part of everyday life…

“The film depicts three periods of life and a family history in rurality. Paul Kircher (who plays the role of Anthony, Editor’s note) is absolutely incredible. Moreover, he won the revelation prize at the Venice Film Festival. Behind the camera: Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma, the directors of “Teddy” and of “The Year of the Shark”. In theaters from December 4.

“Bambi, the story of a life in the woods”

Who hasn’t watched at least one film about the lost young fawn? Bambi is back at the cinema! Michel Fessler, screenwriter of The Emperor’s Marchoffers a new adaptation of the famous work by Felix Salten published in 1923. “This documentary follows a young animal in the forest. It is a family film and very beautiful. The images are magnificent.” In the narration, we find the singer Mylène Farmer.

This feature film, which will be released on October 16, is causing controversy at the moment, but not for its story. The association PAZ denounces the fact that the documentary called on wild animal trainers. Mobilizations took place, and a petition was launched.
