End of the Book Festival: the mayor reacts

The book festival.

Jérémie Bréaud respects “the unilateral decision” of the Lire à Bron association to put an end to the most important event in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in terms of literary manifestation.

The mayor of Bron, Jérémie Bréaud, sent a reaction to Capitale, following the brutal announcement of the dissolution of the Lire à Bron association and the end of the Bron Book Festival, which it had been organizing for thirty -nine years, announced earlier today.

This afternoon, the association Read in Bron announced in fact its dissolution, and the end of the Bron Book Festival, of which it had now been organizer for 39 years, without doubt the most important event in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in terms of literary event.

Following this announcement, without having any other information on the reasons for this sudden and brutal end of the festival, normally scheduled for next March, the mayor of the city Jérémie Bréaud expressed his “regret”. “This unilateral decision, which we welcome with regret but which we respect, marks the end of a rich collective history of 39 editions, made possible thanks to the unconditional support of the city of Bron but above all to the commitment and passion of all those and everyone who contributed to it”.

However, the mayor of Bron assures that “books, reading and, more broadly, Culture, will continue to find their place in Bron, driven by the same passion and the same desire to share the stories and ideas that bring us together.”
