Buenos Aires inaugurates its digital library, with De Marque

De Marque is a global player in the distribution of digital content, particularly books and audiobooks. Created in 1990 in Quebec, the company has offices in Barcelona and . It distributes more than 3 million digital works, from 3,000 publishers, available on 1,300 international platforms via its Cantook Edition warehouse.

In addition to distribution, De Marque offers various digital services aimed at the editorial sector. It facilitates access to digital books in public library networks in Spain and Canada. It also collaborates with universities and libraries in and Africa.

This partnership is part of De Marque’s global mission to expand access to culture and knowledge, in line with similar initiatives in Portugal, Spain and Canada.

Thanks to this partnership, the digital library currently offers a collection of 1,000 titles, including new releases and essential classics, and plans to regularly expand its offering. With nearly 30,000 registered members in the Buenos Aires public library network, the platform allows users to borrow titles for a maximum period of 30 days, and each title is accessible by 30 users simultaneously.

It was during an event organized at the Borges Space of the Miguel Cané Library that the Minister of Culture, Gabriela Ricardes, and the head of government, Jorge Macri, officially presented this digital library.

Jorge Macri took the opportunity to underline the importance of the library’s name: « Jorge Luis Borges is an iconic figure in Argentine and world literature, and it is only fitting that this innovative digital space bears his name. As Borges once said, “I always imagined that Paradise would be a kind of library”. Today, we are proud to offer our fellow citizens a digital paradise for knowledge. »

In a press release from the Argentine municipality, the Minister of Culture of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Ricardes, highlighted: “ We are very happy with this launch which expands the world of books to more residents of Buenos Aires. This contributes to the dynamism of the Public Library Network, alongside the purchase of books and home delivery for the elderly. »
