Editions Radio // book: “Shipwrecked, True Stories” Daniel Fiévet (ed. Julliard – Inter)

Cut off from the rest of the world on a desert island or on a drifting raft, faced with hunger, despair and loneliness, they found the strength to do the impossible: survive.

The podcast phenomenon, with more than 2 million listeners, is now available in a booklet.

From the real Robinson Crusoe to the survivors of the raft of the Medusa, Daniel Fiévet tells the real adventures of these survivors who marked the history of navigation. They took place between the 17th and 20th centuries, in very different historical contexts and at the most diverse latitudes, but they all have in common that they show how far humans are capable of going when confronted with extreme situations. Far from civilization, in the wilderness, the mask of conventions falls and beings reveal themselves. To survive, some castaways demonstrate incredible ingenuity and behave like true heroes, others give free rein to their baser instincts and commit the unthinkable.

These stories, based on the testimonies of survivors, invite us to question human nature and, more personally, what we would have done in such a situation. They are also an opportunity to delve into varied historical contexts and explore the most remote corners of our planet. A fascinating and richly illustrated book to dive into in the heart of darkness.

With a scientific background, Daniel Fiévet is a producer and host at Inter. For 10 years, he has produced and hosted the show Time for a bivouac on the theme of travel and exploration of the world. He produced the podcast series Castaways – A True Story and In Extremis – Survival Stories.

He occasionally presents the science show Earth squared as well as the column Les Savanturiers in the morning.
