As soon as the previous book fair ends, the organizers are already thinking about the next one, so it is since October 2023 that the Lire en Soissonnais association has been working on this 9e edition. “We have chosen to reduce the number of authors and publishers this yearexplains Emmanuelle Tottet, president of the association. Fifty writers and editors, to facilitate meetings with readers and smoother circulation in the Mail de Soissons village hall. »
As always, the association invites the public to find “its favorites”: “We always try to please readers and balance the show with writers hoped for by our loyal readers and of course new authors. »
After Karen Foster in 2023, it is Jean-Jacques Charrière who will sponsor the 2024 book fair: “We are proud to welcome him, he is a humanist passionate about history, who wrote a saga on Clovis and his descendants and who will offer us a conference on the history of Clovis on Saturday. »
New this year is the creation of a brand new reading committee, managed by Marie-Aimée Cailleux, vice-president of the association, for the prize awarded by Lire en Soissonnais: “We have two prizes, that of Lire en Soissonnais, and that of the public. »
Seven works are submitted to the reading committee made up of members of the association, three great readers, a bookseller and a well-known writer from Soisson, Pierre Commeine: “We organize five meetings to talk about it, the final choice is made at the last one. »
The selection criteria for 1is prices are: the quality of the object on its general appearance and its handling, the attractiveness of the cover and the 4e cover, the attractiveness of the title, the interest of the content (enrichment, emotion, suspense, etc.), the coherence of the whole and the editorial quality: “Each criterion is rated from 1 to 10 and the last question is: does this book deserve the Lire en Soissonnais prize? »
The awards will be presented on Saturday during the inauguration of the show, by the winners of the 2023 edition, namely: Claude Brongniart, Yo Tuerlinx-Rouxel and Marie-France Hornebeck.
For the president of the Lire en Soissonnais association, the 2024 edition will once again be exceptional: “We have a dozen volunteers who work for this show all year round. Since we have a few fewer authors and editors, the organization is easier, we are prepared, and the program is magnificent. »
