books at 1€ for a good cause

For almost a decade, it has become a tradition. Every first Sunday in October, the association Savings (Together for Aurélien and Jason) organizes its book fair and multi-collection. A meeting that has become unmissable for amateurs. “ You can find everything there: novels, stories, magazines, cookbooks, children’s books, comics, paperbacks… Prices are set at €1, except for comics and old books. Enough to stock up on reading material at unbeatable prices. A great way to brighten up the long evenings of the approaching winter », Promises Stéphanie Chacel, founding president of the Bourquine association.

“Source of self-financing”

« We have regulars present from the opening. Many of them bring back the books they bought the previous year so that we can put them back on sale », explains Sylviane, an early volunteer and grandmother of a young autistic adult.

His sister Marie-Claude has also taken part in Epaj events since its creation in 2010. The pair of active retirees crisscross the department during numerous flea markets. For this fair, Marie-Claude is in charge of collectibles. Vinyls, CDs, DVDs, beans, old coins and champagne capsules adorn its stand among other rarities. “ The bargain hunters come to find the rare pearl. Some capsule lovers even call us beforehand to find out if there are any new products. This fair is a source ofself-financing very important for children. »

The benefit of this action aims to support young people in independent and shared life

« The profit from this action is dedicated to a project that has been in place for more than 2 years now: that of supporting young people with spectrum disorders.autism in independent and shared life », adds the president. In fact, Epaj acquired a building located in Revin and intended to become inclusive and shared housing. “ We must support our young people well in advance to enable them to acquire skills and prerequisites allowing them to be included in this system. », continues Stéphanie Chacel.
