Published 8 years later Petit Pays, which had enjoyed incredible success, selling more than a million copies, this second work could well meet the same fate. 12,000 copies of the book, published like its predecessor by Grasset, had already been sold just 3 days after its release.

“Jacaranda”: ​​the box office of the book is a “surprise” for Gaël Faye

Gael Faye himself cannot believe this success. In JacarandaGaël Faye explores the contemporary history of Rwanda, where members of his family come from, and in particular the genocide which devastated part of the population of this East African country in 1994.

“Jacaranda” shortlisted for several literary prizes

With JacarandaGaël Faye is part of the second selection for the Prix Goncourt, alongside 7 other authors. The famous award will be awarded on November 4. The 42-year-old author is also in the running with this novel for the Prix Femina, the Prix Renaudot and the Grand Prix du roman of the Académie française. Already crowned with the Goncourt Prize for high school students for Small CountryGaël Faye is not, however, one of the nominees for this award awarded by young readers.
