A new page is being written in the world of literature. A little light which intends to shine, cleverly for two days in Amiens. The literary festival Book lights opens this Friday October 4, 2024 for two days. “ It is a festival of love, the light of knowledge, to fight against obscurantism », summarizes Yakoub Abdellatif, at the origin of this festival. It has been more than a year since this little seed germinated in the mind of this author, who is also known for the organization of the “Journey to the Heart of Summer” festival. This time, he abandons world music, mixed music to open up another musicality, that of words.

And it’s an understatement to say that for a first, it boasts a rich program, the presence of around twenty renowned authors like Abdellah Taïa. His novel (The Bastion of Tears), published in August 2024, has just been nominated for the second Goncourt selection, the list of which was released on October 1 and was even widely acclaimed at the last Prix Médicis. This Moroccan author will be present at the Louis Aragon library on Friday morning. He will be alongside Zahia Rahmani to talk about world literature. Among the authors, Jonathan Hayoun, opens the ball for a journey into the Ashkenazi and Sephardic worlds under the title “Jewish humor, instrument of memory in the face of tragedy”.

And there is no question for the organizer of also mentioning a spotlight on less visible authors. “I don’t want to go into this ghetto. We are here to be interested in others” and to quote Boris Vian: “People don’t change. These are the things that change. » Change your perspective by confronting other stories. There will be no shortage of poetry over these two days. Cécile Oumhani, poet novelist will show through stories that poetry can sometimes restore dignity, speech, life.

The question of harkis will also and literally be asked with Yamina Chalabi, always on Friday. Abdoulaye Kante will be at the Somme prefecture, to give his testimony, his journey, the difficulties but also the pride of being a cop. Being where you don’t expect them, like a spotlight. And this Book Lights intends to shine beyond just once.
