Manon Denimal Cubero has been a professional singer for 13 years. “In other words, thanks to my job, I fill my fridge and pay my bills,” announces the artist. Moreover, at the moment, she is starring in the musical “Just in time”, at the Casino Barrière Toulouse. But this is not her only news since this young woman, with wavy hair, also signed a book “I dream of being a singer” in which she shares valuable advice to achieve this dream so coveted, both by children than by adults. From the functioning of the vocal cords, to the various musical styles, including the recording studio, auditions or even competitions to obtain a contract or SACEM rights, Manon Denimal-Cubero scrutinizes all aspects of the profession. With this work entitled “I dream of being a singer”, in bookstores since August 21, Casterman editions are releasing their third opus. In the same collection, we already find “In the shoes of a great chef” and “I dream of being a veterinarian”.

“I quickly had stars in my eyes”

After starting in variety in Champagne-Ardenne, her region of origin, Manon Denimal-Cunero turned to jazz with Big Bang. “I have always been lulled by soul and funk, so I then moved towards the group Funky Family in which I stayed for 6 years,” explains the mezzo-soprano.
Daughter of a trombonist dad, from a very young age, Manon followed her father in his orchestra bus, traveling from city to city. “I quickly had stars in my eyes while watching the singers and dancers,” the thirty-year-old remembers today. In her early days, the artist benefited from her father’s network in , “but when I arrived in the South, I had to start all over again,” she explains.

In addition to the stage, Manon Denimal Cubero also works at the musical comedy school in Toulouse (ECMT), where she takes care of children, adolescents and adults. “It was one of my students, who works for the OKIDOKID agency, based in Labarthe-sur-Lèze, which offers innovative projects for children, who suggested I write this book on the profession of singer. ” Manon said “yes” straight away.
At the end of 10 months of work, the singer signed a very complete work. “It was essential to show young people that there are several paths to becoming a professional in this profession. And not just what you see on television. You have to take lessons, listen to music, go to concerts, speak with professionals, work on your voice every day… And above all, don’t wait for it to fall from the sky”, she advises.
In short, she wrote the book she would have liked to have found when she started. “All children dream of becoming stars, even if this dream is sometimes idealized. Today, I am a star for my mother and that is enough for me. The most important thing is to have the incredible chance to living from my passion for 13 years”, she concludes.
