Festival America 2024 Award Winners

Festival America has revealed the winners of its Page/america, Readers and High School Students awards, with the awards presented on September 28.

America and Page des libraires magazine have joined forces to reward the first novel by a North American author. The jury, made up of 130 booksellers and librarians, chose American Boysof Khashayar J. Khabushanitranslated by Charles Bonnot and published by Denoël last August. Were also competing It’s your service of Jonathan Escoffery (Albin Michel, trans. Alexei Du Périer) et The Ghosts of Brooklyn of Tyriek White (Calmann-Lévy, trad. Romain Guillou).

Two British people rewarded for the Readers’ and High School Students’ prizes

Since 2006, the inhabitants of have also been able to vote for their favorite novel. The City of Vincennes Readers’ Prize, created by the town’s media libraries, rewards an American novel by an author invited to the America festival. A second prize accompanies it, that of High School Students, in partnership with the magazine Phosphorus. Each jury is made up of ten members chosen from among the subscribers of the city’s four media libraries, with the librarians then making the selections.

For the first time this year, European authors are invited to the America festival as part of the America – Europe theme. The Media Library of Vincennes has thus distinguished two British winners, Glen James Brown pour Ironopolistranslated by Claire Charrier and published by Editions du Typhon (“After the Storm” collection), winner of the Readers’ Prize, and Cécile Pin pour Wandering souls translated by Carine Chichereau published by Stock (“La cosmopolite” collection), winner of the High School Prize.
