20 years of celebrating Montreal children’s literature every day

The City of Montreal is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Prix du livre jeunesse des Bibliothèques de Montréal, which over the past 19 years has highlighted more than 75 finalist titles, covering various genres, such as fiction, novels and poetry. The Prize rewards the richness and diversity of Montreal children’s literature and recognizes the excellence of Montreal creation in the youth publishing sector. The jury is made up of five children’s librarians from the City of Montreal.

All year long, Montreal libraries offer a wide variety of genres in children’s literature, with sections dedicated entirely to young children. Several activities are also offered to entertain and stimulate young and old alike: music awareness, multi-sensory mornings, storytelling, cine-biblio, story time, etc. They can be found in the library’s calendar of activities, updated throughout the year. The Contact, le plaisir des livres and Livres dans la rue programs are also dedicated to young children and their families to encourage a taste for reading.
