Nosoli Group Plans to Close 5 Furet du and Decitre Bookstores

The Nosoli group, which notably owns the Furet du and Decitre bookstores, is considering five store closures and 80 job cuts, the group’s management told AFP on Wednesday, confirming information from The Voice of the North.

Nosoli, which has a total of 31 bookstores (19 Furet du Nord and 12 Decitre), is also planning to create jobs, for a net loss of around fifty jobs. Today there are 649 of us, tomorrow we plan to be 600. “, he said Nathalie LeleuMarketing and Human Resources Director of the Group.

The planned job cuts, announced to staff on Monday, are ” half in stores, half in support functions ” she said.

Stores ” structurally in deficit »

For support functions, these cuts are linked in particular to a restructuring of the Group’s various websites, some of whose teams will be merged, like customer services.

The store closures concern two Furet du Nord stores, in Villeneuve d’Ascq and (Nord), and three Decitre bookstores, one in the region (), the other two in the Alps ( and ).

These stores are ” structurally in deficit “, assures Nathalie Leleu. According to her, the cause is a ” economically very fragile bookstore world “, as well as an increase in charges and rents which is plunging some bookstores into the red.

These closures are not definitive: the group hopes ” find solutions ” with lessors, in particular reductions in charges, to return to balance and maintain the threatened stores.
