Released in January 2023, Freida McFadden’s novel has been among the top booksellers in France for several days.

While the literary rentrée allows authors to unveil their new works, some successes come from books that were released several months ago. This is particularly the case with the novel The Housekeeper (City Editions) by Freida McFadden, published in January 2023 (2022 in the original version), but currently among the top sellers of paperbacks according to the Livres Hebdo website.

In the thriller The Housekeepera former convict finds a job with one of New York’s wealthiest families, the Winchesters. Taking care of the household chores and the couple’s daughter, she realizes that the idyllic appearance of the home hides heavy secrets.

A renowned author of psychological thrillers, Freida McFadden is a writer and doctor specializing in brain injuries. With over 25 books to her name, she has achieved international success thanks to The Housekeeper (and its sequels). In France, only a few books by Freida McFadden are available, including The Psych (City Editions), published in April 2024 and following the discovery by a couple in an abandoned house of audio recordings of a psychologist who disappeared a few years earlier.

The author develops her appetite for mystery, twists and psychological tension. With the success of The Housekeeperother books by Freida McFadden could well be released soon in France.

If The Housekeeper can be read as a one-shot – with a satisfying and definitive conclusion – Freida McFadden returned to her character of Millie with the book The Secrets of the Housekeeper (City Editions), published in October 2023.
