Books to devour even in the towers for Reading Nights

Until Sunday January 26, this national event organized by the National Book Center is divided into several meetings, from Alès to the Château d’Aujac.

Reorganized for a ninth edition by the National Book Center, at the instigation of the Ministry of Culture, Reading Nights are taking place throughout until Sunday January 26.

Responsible for promoting and literature as living and fundamental materials of society, these Nights have the theme this year of the question of heritage and its transmission.

Book and castle

“Written heritage has always been very important at Aujac Castle.” It is for this reason that the Château du Cheylard d’Aujac, recently become a historical documentation center on the Cévennes, will host, this Saturday 25 and Sunday 26, two evenings offering reading, sound walks, games and show around the collection of texts “If the chestnut trees could speak…”, written by the playwright Gilbert Léautier, who ended his life at the Château d’Aujac in 2018. His partner, Marlène Léautier still lives there.

Scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the activities are free.

Games and meetings

Other events are underway as part of these Nights (the entire program is available on www.nuitsdelalecture.fr). In Alès, the Alphonse-Daudet media library, whose activities are very recurring, dares to be playful with a board games evening open to all this Saturday, January 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Particular attention is paid to games in link with heritage and history: Akropolis, Seven Wonders, or even Citadelles.

In connection with the Cèze Cévennes book festival, a meeting with the author Emmanuelle Salasc, this Saturday January 25 at 7 p.m., at the Bégude farm, in Saint-Victor-de-Malcap. Events also free.
