The 56-year-old man, who even filmed himself live on the ice, created quite a commotion on Friday morning.

“I was curious to know if it was taken well. I knew it. I gave it a few blows and heard it crack. […] Once I got on board, I started surfing on one of the big pieces,” said the individual in his narration of the facts.

His reckless action led to a major deployment of emergency services on the Saint-Maurice River. The police, however, managed to convince the individual to return to the edge.

“He did it not without difficulty,” notes the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Éloïse Cossette.

The individual who was intoxicated was taken to the police station to sober up and will receive several tickets under municipal regulations.

He will have to pay $284 for insulting a peace officer, $284 for drunkenness and $468 for obstruction, for a total of $1,036.
