Originally from the southwest of France, Camille Pacelli has been based in Mouthe for 18 years. Passionate about literature, she has always written her thoughts and moods in her notebook, without ever daring to take the step of writing a novel. At least until November 2023, when his book “Vy, black out” was released by Éditions Vérone. In this postapocalyptic story, Miranda, a young girl, appears to be the last survivor of the human race. With her companion Onyx, a cat survivor of scientific experiments carried out on animals, she tries to survive in a world where nature is taking back its rights.
Through this novel, the mother expresses her exasperation at the way in which humans exploit nature. “I can no longer stand what we are doing to the environment. There are too many of us and we are constantly encroaching on the animals’ territory” she laments. A lover of animals and especially cats, in her story she advocates respect for all life on Earth. Although critical of our modern society, his novel is also intended to bring hope. “I wanted to tell the end (of the world), but also the start of something new” she explains.
Future books in perspective
-If writing came naturally to her, Camille Pacelli was quickly confronted with the difficulties of publishing. She was finally able to sign an author’s contract, covering the printing costs herself, to the tune of 2,500 euros. His biggest regret concerns the distribution of his book, not available in bookstores. Despite this, she sold enough to repay her contribution: “I have many close friends and family who have read it, but also enthusiasts from whom I have received good feedback” she rejoices.
In 2025, it intends to keep its resolutions: “I will canvass the bookstores in Pontarlier myself. I also need to make progress on my next two books”she said. She is currently working on volume 2 of « Vy, black out » but also on a thriller « trash »like Maxime Chattam, his favorite author.
