In Search of Evidence – a book by Christopher Bosa

LITERATURE. The daughter of a Sûreté du Québec investigator is kidnapped. While all clues point to one individual, another suspect is in the investigator’s sights. The result of this race against time can be read in the detective novel “Without a Shadow of Proof” by Christopher Bosa from Vallée-Jonction.

“The idea behind this novel evolved gradually in my head. […] Basically, the idea appeared as the simple desire to write a detective novel “the way I like them”. Little by little, themes that are close to my heart were integrated,” explained the 26-year-old author.

In particular, as a professional psychoeducator, Mr. Bosa wishes to demonstrate that the line between the “good guys” and the “bad guys” is sometimes devilishly thin…

“I tend to try to create very human, imperfect characters and develop their emotional world. I try, in my novel, to make people realize that even the “bad guy” has a life story that leads him to be the way he is and I try to present the possibility that, if his youth had been different, he would possibly have had a very different life. […] I hope that readers will feel a certain amount of apprehension as they wonder about the outcome of the story, but also a good dose of empathy for each of the characters, who all experience their emotions in their own way,” he said. -he continued.

Published by Éditions La Plume D’or, let us mention that “Without a Shadow of Proof” is the second novel by Beauceron. His first, “La rage au coeur”, was released in November 2022.

“What differentiates my novel from others, I believe, is mainly based on the fact that after about ten pages, the reader has the impression of knowing who the culprit is. So, instead of reading the book in search of the culprit, the reader instead finds himself trying to find out if he is right in his hypothesis and, if so, how the investigator will succeed in proving the suspect’s guilt. »

The curious are invited to the book launch, which will take place on Friday, February 21 at 7 p.m. at the Honorius-Provost Library in Sainte-Marie.
