Home delivery of books: become a volunteer librarian!

Can't move? No worries, the media library comes to you with its team of volunteers. Created 6 years ago, this service allows people who are unable to travel permanently or occasionally (immobilized following an accident for example) to enjoy the joys of reading.

Supervised by a professional reference librarian, seven volunteers regularly work on behalf of the City outside the La Navette municipal media library, in order to facilitate access to culture for all. In particular, they host “reading cafés” for seniors at the Sud residence, at the La Source nursing home or even in premises made available by a social landlord. And among them, three volunteers travel the city's roads to bring a selection of to readers who are unable to travel.
Beneficiaries of this service, like all users of the media library, have the possibility of borrowing as many documents as they wish free of charge. A selection of 10 to 20 books is offered depending on everyone's tastes. The loan period, initially set at one month, is extended to two months.

Breaking the isolation

This system also aims to create a bond with the beneficiary. The volunteer stays at home for approximately one hour. If you too would like to offer some of your time by becoming a volunteer librarian, contact the media library team at the number below.
