Emmanuelle Roger, Estelle Rebottaro and Frédéric Dupont sign a new photographic work on local wildlife, Garenne & Goupil.

In this third book, their gaze focused on the rabbit and the fox, from dawn until nightfall. These wild animals appear endearing, mischievous, injured…

For this, photographers Emmanuelle Roger and Frédéric Dupont were welcomed to a farm located in Boischaut. For 4 years, they bivouacked there every weekend from March to September. In this isolated place, they observed and immortalized the rabbits, and appreciated the surrounding fauna: the bee-eater, the little owl, the hoopoe… “We have to find a new attitude: we worked on backlighting. We spend 2 hours on the lookout and the light we want will last a quarter of an hour. We managed to photograph the rabbits breastfeeding, which is rare”tell these two enthusiasts.

“The fox adapts”

Frédéric Dupont had already worked on the rabbit in 2004. “Since then, it has been slowly declining”he laments. Which is not the case for the fox with whom he lives. “The fox adapts. »

The Solognot fox is in the background. They explain: “Last year, the burrows were flooded. The burrows are not necessarily occupied » and this animal is very suspicious. So they couldn’t take as many photos. Out of nearly 70,000 photos, only 140 were selected for this new book, supplemented by 16 watercolors.

Thanks to their observations, they better understand the behavior of these species. “Why do they sniff each other, lick each other, reject each other…” They will share their knowledge during nature festivals to promote Sologne, signing sessions and conferences.
