Sofia Coppola launches her publishing house, Importan Flowers

American director Sofia Coppola launches her publishing house called Important Flowers, after releasing a book called Sofia Coppola Archive 1999-2023. And the first planned works should delight many coffee tables.

For several years, the American director, actress, producer and screenwriter Sofia Coppola53, had remained discreet. But she has been in the news again for a little over a year. In fact, the artist presented a film, Priscillain January 2024. And in 2023, she released a book entitled Sofia Coppola Archive: 1999-2023.

Sofia Coppola Archivea book rich in rare images covering the director’s entire career

The object, voluminous – 488 pages – and pink in color, has everything coffee table bookespecially since it exists in a version signed by the filmmaker, presented in a box set. Rich in unpublished images, the book takes us behind the scenes of the director’s films with a poetic universe, almost all of which have become cult. There are notably photos of Scarlett Johansson et Bill Murray In Lost in Translation (2003), d’Emma Watson In The Bling Ring (2013) and Kirsten Dunst In Virgin Suicides (1999) et Marie Antoinette (2006).

As the artist reveals Vogue American, the project was born during the pandemic (the first confinement, in 2020), when the filmmaker found boxes full of souvenirs such as drafts of scripts, moodboards or Polaroids taken on set.

The book, which presents itself as a scrapbook – the dream Pinterest account -, reveals, among other things, an interview with the director by the journalist Lynn Hirschbergan article from Vanity Fair who inspired The Bling Ring (2013), on which Sofia Coppola took notes, anecdotes about her films, letters addressed to Bill Murray and even an overview of the film Priscilla of Sofia Coppolawhich will be a biopic about Priscilla Presleythe ex-wife ofElvis Presley.

Important Flowers, the director’s publishing house

Previously, the director’s work had already been the subject of , among which are Sofia Coppola: Forever Young, Sofia Coppola: The Politics of Visual Pleasure, The Cinema of Sofia Coppola: FashionCulture, Celebrity, Set Pictures.
